In a remarkable feat of multimodal transport engineering, XXL CONSOLIDATION, your Connecta partner in Germany, successfully managed the complex relocation of a FAGOR Press 3200 from Volkswagen’s Wolfsburg plant in Germany to its new production facility in Sered, Slovakia, near Bratislava. This project highlights the logistical precision and technical expertise required for one of the most complex industrial transfers in the automotive sector.
The press line, designed for high-capacity automotive production, consisted of multiple heavy and oversized components, with the dismantled unit weighing approximately 715 tons. The Press Table, the heaviest segment at 175 tons, required a floating crane (HEBO 6) with a dual lifting capacity of 2 × 100 tons to ensure safe barge loading.
To accommodate the machinery’s size and complexity, XXL CONSOLIDATION executed a meticulously phased operation, starting with the transport of the dismantled press to the Wolfsburg port, where it was loaded onto a barge using the floating crane. Ensuring a smooth transit along the Danube River, the cargo reached Bratislava, then continued by specialized trucks to its final destination in Sered.
XXL CONSOLIDATION managed the entire project, including planning, loading/unloading, cargo security, barge chartering, export customs clearance, permit acquisition, and escort services for oversized road transport. Handling the oversized and heavy cargo was a challenged that required specialized equipment and precise coordination across multiple transportation modes. The floating crane HEBO 6 played a crucial role in ensuring the safe and damage-free loading of the heaviest components.
